Ever wondered how to find the Milky Way on your own? The secret lies in three bright stars forming the Summer Triangle, which is still visible in October, right above your head this evening. We’ll show you how to use this Summer Triangle as your personal roadmap to our galaxy’s glowing heart—a skill you’ll use when you venture to those darker skies where the Milky Way reveals itself in all its glory. Along the way, you’ll meet the stars and constellations that have guided travelers for thousands of years, plus hear cultural star stories from around the world. We’ll cap off the night hunting for scorpions under black light—these desert residents glow an otherworldly blue-green, revealing hidden life thriving around us after dark. Red flashlights welcome; white lights and flash photography should stay tucked away to preserve everyone’s night vision.
