This hike is equal parts nature observation, stargazing, and cultural perspectives on the night sky. We will trace the Summer Triangle in the stars and learn how to use it to find the Milky Way, discover the cast of characters, and learn their stories.

Our trail is just over one mile round-trip on uneven desert terrain with rocks and natural obstacles that require steady footing. The elevation gain is moderate. We will stop frequently along this route to observe.

This hike is suitable for ages 12 and up with good mobility and fitness for desert hiking.

We hike even if it’s cloudy. Space is limited, so register today. If tickets are sold out, join the Wait List to be notified if there is an opening.

WHAT TO BRING:

• Plenty of water
• Wear sturdy closed-toe hiking shoes
• Check the weather to choose appropriate clothing.
• Hiking poles, if needed
• Red flashlights are required (no white flashlights or smartphone lights). We have a few extras to share.
